Sports Bras Guide
A sports bra is designed to support your bust and minimize breast movement while you're working out. I do not recommend wearing your regular bra while exercising since it is not designed to give you the proper support. Many sports bras also have fabric that moves moisture away from your skin and dries quickly. Popular fabric types include powermesh, cotton blends, and fabric with silver thread.
Sports Bras are categorized as high, medium or low impact. What type of sports bra you buy depends on the type of activity you plan on doing. Low impact sports bras are best for walking and yoga. This is also the type of sports bra you should get if you plan on wearing your sports bra as an everyday bra. High impact sports bras are great for faster paced (and bouncy) activities like jogging, running and mountain biking.
In addition to different activity levels, there are also different types of support. Compression sports bras press the breasts against your body for secure support. This style will prevent your breasts from bouncing. Encapsulation sports bras have individual cups that hold each breast in place separately. Many modern sports bras combine the two different types of support. Sports bras tend to fit a little snugger than regular bras in order to stay secure against your body.
